1. Who controls your information
Where Tourgo controls the personal information processed through the marketplace. Privacy requests may be sent to privacy@wheretourgo.com.
2. Information we collect
- Account and identity information, such as name, email, telephone number and sign-in identifiers.
- Booking information, including travelers, dates, preferences, accessibility requests and communications.
- Provider due-diligence information, including legal identity, permits, insurance, banking or payment status and authorized contacts.
- Transaction information, including deposit amount, currency, payment status and PayPal transaction reference. WTG does not store full card or PayPal credentials.
- Device, log, approximate location, cookie and interaction information needed for security, operation and—only where permitted—analytics.
- Content you submit, such as reviews, photos, support requests and messages.
3. Why we use it
- Perform a contract: create accounts, process booking requests, collect deposits, issue confirmations and support trips.
- Legitimate interests: secure the platform, prevent fraud, curate providers, improve services and manage business operations, balanced against your rights.
- Consent: optional marketing, non-essential cookies and other processing where consent is legally required.
- Legal obligations: accounting, tax, consumer protection, safety, sanctions and lawful government requests.
- Vital interests: respond to a serious traveler safety emergency when appropriate.
4. Who receives information
WTG shares only what is reasonably necessary with the provider responsible for the booked experience, payment processor PayPal, authentication and hosting providers, professional advisers and service vendors operating under appropriate obligations. A provider receives traveler and trip details so it can confirm and perform the reservation and acts as an independent controller for its own lawful uses.
WTG does not sell personal information for money. If future advertising activity constitutes a sale or sharing under an applicable U.S. state law, WTG will provide the required notice and opt-out before enabling it.
5. International transfers
WTG operates from Costa Rica and serves international travelers. Information may therefore be processed outside your country. Where required, WTG will use an approved transfer mechanism, contractual safeguards or another lawful basis and will make information about the safeguard available on request.
6. Retention and security
WTG keeps information only as long as reasonably needed for bookings, support, fraud prevention, legal claims and applicable accounting or tax obligations. Retention periods differ by record type and are reviewed periodically. WTG uses access controls, encryption in transit, logging and vendor safeguards, but no system can guarantee absolute security.
7. Your choices and rights
- Access, correct or request a portable copy of your information.
- Request deletion or restriction, subject to legal retention requirements.
- Object to processing based on legitimate interests and withdraw consent at any time.
- Opt out of marketing communications without affecting trip messages.
- Complain to Costa Rica's data protection authority, PRODHAB, or the supervisory authority available under applicable law.
- Authorized agents may submit requests where local law permits; WTG may verify identity before responding.
8. Children
WTG accounts and bookings are for adults. Information about minors should be provided only by an authorized parent or guardian when necessary for a reservation. WTG does not knowingly solicit accounts from children.
9. Automated decisions and recommendations
WTG may rank experiences using destination, category, availability, quality, traveler preferences and commercial relevance. WTG does not currently make solely automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects. Sponsored placement, if introduced, will be clearly labeled.
10. Updates
Material changes will be highlighted through the platform or account contact information. The effective date above identifies the current version.
